No elections in Kochi Corporation Standing Committees as UDF secures majority in all eight panels

The UDF, with its majority in the Kochi Corporation council, avoided a contested election for the eight Standing Committees on Wednesday (January 7, 2026). All councillors were required to be members of one committee or another. The UDF secured majorities in most committees, including Finance, Development, and Welfare, while the LDF and BJP each nominated representatives to various committees. The election for committee chairpersons will be held on January 13 at 10:30 a.m.
