Economist Amartya Sen not required to attend SIR hearing over spelling error, says ECI

The Election Commission of India (ECI) clarified that Nobel laureate Amartya Sen is not required to appear for a hearing regarding discrepancies in his voter name. The ECI stated that minor errors, including spelling mistakes, can be corrected administratively at the local level by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). The Commission emphasized that these technical issues do not affect a voter's eligibility and instructed authorities to avoid creating public disputes over such matters.
