Congress high command backs demand for share in power in T.N., say TNCC leaders

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee leaders are demanding a share in power for the upcoming Assembly elections, citing their desire to maintain the anti-BJP front and strengthen Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s position. The demand is fueled by the emergence of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), founded by actor Vijay, as a viable third front. All India Professionals’ Congress president Praveen Chakravarty argues that the demand for power is not unreasonable given the Congress' history in coalition governments and the DMK's past involvement in Delhi government. Former TNCC President K.S. Alagiri believes the Congress leadership will back these demands, as they have been communicated to the DMK by the AICC in-charge, TNCC president, and CLP leader.
