Rajnath Singh to commission Coast Guard’s new pollution control vessel on January 5
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will commission the Indian Coast Guard ship 'Samudra Pratap' in Goa on Monday, January 5, 2025. The first of two pollution control vessels, the ship is equipped with advanced technology to detect oil spills and respond to pollution incidents within India's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and beyond. The vessel boasts a speed of over 22 knots and an endurance of 6,000 nautical miles, significantly enhancing the Indian Coast Guard’s capabilities in pollution response, fire-fighting, and maritime safety and security. The ship will be based at the ICG's Kochi base.
