First test flight to land at Bhogapuram International Airport on January 4
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu is scheduled to arrive in Visakhapatnam on January 4, 2026, for the first test flight at the newly constructed Bhogapuram International Airport. The airport, located approximately 50 km from Visakhapatnam, has faced delays due to land acquisition issues and will be operational by June 2026. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is responsible for the construction of the airport, which spans 2,203 acres with a 3.8 km runway. The project is being undertaken by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited (GVIAL) and the completion of access roads from the National Highway-16 to the airport remains a priority.
