DMK, Congress clash over credit for SC achievements in Tamil Nadu legislature
On Monday, Minister for Public Works Aadhav Arjuna debated with DMK MLAs over Scheduled Castes' welfare and representation. Former Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan highlighted DMK’s contributions to SC empowerment, while current Higher Education Minister P. Viswanathan credited the Congress for past achievements. Mr. Aadhav argued that without coalition partners like the Congress, VCK, and IUML, the DMK would have won fewer seats in 2026 elections. Congress MLA Tharahai Cuthbert claimed Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra helped the DMK win, but K.N. Nehru countered that the Congress only secured 10 seats in Tamil Nadu despite the yatra.
