
CM Stalin announces Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme for govt. employees
M.K. Stalin, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, announced the implementation of the Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme (TAPS) to provide state government employees with assured pensions equal to 50% of their last-drawn basic pay. The scheme requires employees to contribute 10% of their basic pay and will be funded by the State government, which will also provide dearness allowance hikes twice a year for pensioners and a family pension upon death. The TAPS is expected to cost the state an additional ₹13,000 crore annually.
