
GIFT City aims to attract one million NRIs by 2047 under Viksit Bharat vision
In an interview with NDTV's Rahul Kanwal, K Rajaraman, chairman of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), discussed Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City)'s ambition to become a major international financial hub. Launched in 2014 under executive orders and gaining formal legal status in 2019, GIFT City aims to attract foreign investment by focusing on India's growth story. With around $60 billion flowing into India from GIFT City, it houses over 400 funds managing nearly $20 billion abroad and facilitating $61 billion in external commercial borrowings for Indian companies last year. Rajaraman emphasized the city’s goal to attract one million NRIs as investors by 2047 under the Viksit Bharat vision.
