Aviation sector to take wings in A.P. as Bhogapuram airport all set for flight validation test on January 4

The Bhogapuram Greenfield International Airport in Andhra Pradesh is set to begin commercial validation flights on January 4th, marking a new era for the state's aviation sector. The project, undertaken during the NDA tenure and completed by GMR Group, has faced legal hurdles but construction began in 2023. The airport will initially handle 6 million passengers annually and is expected to act as a major growth engine for North Andhra districts. Union Minister K. Rammohan Naidu hopes the airport will boost development in the region, while Vizianagaram MLA Pusapati Aditi Vijaya Lakshmi believes an Educity near the airport will provide job opportunities for locals. However, concerns remain about the distance between Visakhapatnam and Bhogapuram, prompting calls for flyovers and radial roads to ease travel for passengers.
