Shah Promises Political Solution for Darjeeling, Forms Special Committee

Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, promised a permanent political solution for Darjeeling hills issues during a high-level interaction with representatives from the region. A special committee led by Pankaj Kumar Singh will develop modalities and a roadmap for this settlement. The meeting, attended by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and prominent hill leaders, discussed demands for distinct identity and constitutional status. Shah assured sympathetic consideration of other demands and financial assistance from the Centre.
