Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge are considering a visit to Bandlapalli village in Andhra Pradesh, the site of the MGNREGA's launch 20 years ago. The Congress plans a nationwide campaign from February 5th to protest what it calls the Modi government's attempt to "convert workers’ rights into a government dole." The A.P. Congress has called for a statewide campaign beginning January 5th, urging greater transparency and accountability in MGNREGA implementation.
