Assembly passes 5 Bills, gives nod to reorganisation of GHMC

The Telangana Legislative Assembly passed five bills, including amendments to the Telangana Municipalities Act and GHMC Act. The bills aim to merge 27 urban local bodies within and outside the Outer Ring Road, increase GHMC wards from 150 to 300, establish two private universities, and impose a road safety tax on new vehicles. The Minister for Legislative Affairs, IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu explained that these changes are intended to improve resource mobilization, organizational efficiency, and planning in the city.
