Jharkhand High Court Stays Order Cancelling JPSC Exams, Appointments

The Jharkhand High Court has stayed the state government's order cancelling the 11th and 13th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations and appointments, providing relief to newly appointed officers. The court acted on petitions filed by the officers challenging the Chief Minister Hemant Soren-led government’s decision following a 25-day student protest over alleged irregularities in recruitment exams. The cancelled exams included positions for drug inspectors, assistant professors, deputy collectors, among others. Candidates argued that their employment was jeopardised without an opportunity to present their case, invoking principles of natural justice. This development follows the government's announcement of forming a committee to examine reforms in the JPSC and JSSC examination system.
