Electric 'Aero Express' Buses Launch, Fare ₹400 Beats Private Cabs ₹1,000-₹2,000
On August 16, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) launched an 'Aero Express' electric bus service from Visakhapatnam to the newly operational Alluri Sitharama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram. The one-way fare is ₹400, lower than private cab fares of ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 for the 50-km journey. APSRTC deployed a fleet of 20 buses making 40 departures daily from Old Gajuwaka at half-hour intervals between 4:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m., with stops along existing routes. B.A. Naidu, Regional Manager, APSRTC, said the service began to ensure passengers had transport on August 17 when commercial flights started.
