Modi clears ₹9,450-crore railway project with mega bridge over Swarnamukhi river
Tirupati MP M. Gurumoorthy welcomed the Union Cabinet's approval for additional railway lines in the Gummidipoondi-Gudur section, connecting Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, as part of four projects worth ₹9,450 crore. The ₹2,229-crore project includes laying third and fourth railway lines over 90 km to decongest Gudur junction and aims to be completed in four years. It involves constructing 21 major bridges, including a mega bridge over Swarnamukhi river, and 127 smaller bridges. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs that cleared these projects.
