Jharkhand Students Protest 3 Weeks Over Exam Irregularities, Demand CBI Investigation

Students in Jharkhand, organized into two platforms — the JPSC-JSSC Abhyarthi Nyay Manch and the JPSC-JSSC Reform Manch, have protested for over three weeks against alleged irregularities in entrance exams for government jobs. The protests were triggered by the July 2 result of the JPSC’s preliminary examination, which shortlisted only 2,204 candidates from about 3.5 lakh aspirants for 103 posts. Aspirants accused the conducting agency of undisclosed category-wise cut-offs and other irregularities, leading to demands for a CBI investigation and reconstitution of commissions. The Jharkhand government responded with CID raids and announced the cancellation of all exams conducted by TSR Data Processing since 2014.
