Instagram Deletes Posts by Indian Political Groups Following Government Pressure
Posts by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) members, Indian Youth Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal, and news portal Scroll.in have been disappearing from Instagram following meetings between the company’s leadership and the Union government. The deletions follow last month's youth protests that led to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. Meta, Instagram’s parent company, has faced pressure over its recommendation algorithm amid claims of anti-establishment content amplification. Screenshots indicate posts are being censored under IT Rules, 2021, with numerous reels removed despite high views. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das criticized the move as unconstitutional and against free speech principles. Meta did not respond to comments on this new wave of censorship.
