Fadnavis: Maharashtra will consider reservation demands within legal bounds

On Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that his government would consider demands for reservation within the constitutional framework and rules. Speaking to reporters, he emphasized listening to all communities but acting only if demands fit public interest and legal constraints. This comes amid debates over reservations for the Maratha community and OBCs. Fadnavis defended Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule against allegations of bias, asserting that ministers are constitutionally bound to forward complaints for inquiry rather than making decisions based on personal interests or pressures. He also highlighted the independence and judicial powers of the committee dealing with such matters.
