RTI Reveals 10 Injured by Pellets During July 20 March to Parliament
Police use of pellet guns on protesters raises serious concerns about excessive force.
Saket Gokhale, spokesperson for the All India Trinamool Congress, revealed through RTI responses from Lady Hardinge Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital that at least 10 people were injured by pellets during a march to Parliament on July 20. The Delhi Police initially denied using pellet guns but later admitted to firing two rounds from an anti-riot gun. Among the injured were protesters, students, and journalists; hospital records showed 81 people treated, including both police officers and protesters. Gokhale criticized the government for not releasing a confirmed number of victims.
