Protesters Block Highway, Slam Congress for Denying MLA Tanveer Sait Cabinet Berth
On Sunday, supporters of MLA Tanveer Sait, a six-time MLA from the Narasimharaja constituency, staged a protest at Manipal Hospital junction on the Bengaluru–Mysuru Highway against his denial of a Cabinet berth. This was their second demonstration; earlier protests occurred in Udayagiri after he was not inducted into D.K. Shivakumar's Cabinet despite being a strong aspirant. The large gathering, including women, caused traffic jams and raised slogans against the Congress leadership for ignoring Mr. Sait, a senior party member. Traffic police cleared the jam by detaining and releasing protesters; senior leaders promised to address the issue.
