Chittoor police arrest 42-year-old for alleged sexual assault on minor within 24 hours
On Tuesday night (July 21, 2026), Chittoor district police arrested a 42-year-old man within 24 hours of registering a case under Sections 65(1), 75(2), 78(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 4 read with Section 3(a) of the POCSO Act for alleged sexual assault on a minor in Bangarupalyam mandal. The incident occurred on July 17, and the case was registered after the victim disclosed it to her parents on July 20. Deputy SP (Palamaner) Degala Prabhakar supervised the arrest near Paleru flyover, where the accused was remanded in judicial custody.
