The gang stole motorcycles from areas including Cumbum, Bestavaripeta, Markapuram, Kavali Rural (Nellore district), Vetapalem (Bapatla district), and Kondandapuram (Jogulamba Gadwal district, Telangana). Markapuram district SP V. Harshavardhan Raju issued directives leading to the arrest during an attempt to sell stolen vehicles at Y-junction in Cumbum village.
Over 2,500 police deployed for tight security during Vellore Independence Day celebrations
Over 2,500 police personnel were deployed in Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, and Tiruvannamalai districts for the 80th Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2026. Increased surveillance was implemented around religious sites, vital installations, public gathering places, and border checkposts. N. U. Sivaraman, SP (Vellore), stated that 850 police would be stationed in Vellore district with tightened security at six border checkposts.
