Andhra Pradesh Faces 56% Rainfall Shortfall in August: Naidu Directs Water Management Measures
On Saturday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu flagged a 39% rainfall deficit this season in Andhra Pradesh due to El Niño, with August expecting a 56% shortfall. Reservoirs hold only 563.05 TMC ft of water compared to last year's 825.67 TMC ft. Naidu directed officials to ensure drinking water storage and supply, use floodwaters for crops, and maintain industrial water allocations. Officials reported completion of 96% of Jaladhara scheme works at ₹3,409.35 crore cost.
