High Court orders FIR against TDB officials for ₹2,27,76,435 ghee scam
Alleged corruption in temple funds is a serious abuse of power.
On August 6, 2026, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) registered an FIR against former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) officials including ex-president Prasanth P.S., board member Aji Kumar, and late Executive Officer Murari Babu over alleged corruption in ghee procurement for the Sabarimala temple. The High Court of Kerala directed this action following a preliminary inquiry revealing financial loss of ₹2,27,76,435 due to procedural violations and inflated rates paid to Milma. Accused bypassed tender procedures and food safety norms, leading VACB to book them under Sections 7, 13(1)(a), and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, among others.
