BJP leader accuses MLA of contacting "parivar" to rejoin, gets rebuffed
At a protest meeting in Sagar on Thursday, Haratal Halappa, former Minister and BJP leader, accused Sagar MLA Belur Gopal Krishna of contacting a "senior leader of the parivar" to return to the BJP after being denied a Cabinet berth. The senior leader reportedly refused due to Mr. Krishna's uncharitable comments about former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and his family, stating it was good he remained with the Congress. Mr. Halappa claimed knowledge of the contact details and timing. He also criticized Mr. Krishna for not meeting KPCC president B.K. Hariprasad during a visit to Sagar. This statement came amid BJP protests demanding repair of faulty rain gauges affecting areca growers' compensation under a crop insurance scheme. Published August 07, 2026.
