Maharashtra CM Orders New Investigation into Siddhivinayak Temple Donations
Allegations of embezzlement and financial irregularities in a prominent religious institution warrant concern.
On August 3, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered a new investigation into alleged irregularities in donations at the Siddhivinayak Temple from 2022 to 2026 following accusations by Raj Thackeray, chief of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. Thackeray claimed yearly irregularities of ₹18 crore since 2023 and accused temple employees of embezzlement, leading to the arrest of nine individuals. The trustees had previously sought investigations by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and Law and Judiciary Department on August 2.
