Karnataka Cabinet Swearing-In Sees Last-Minute Changes, 19 Out of 20 Take Oath

On Monday, Siddaramaiah’s Cabinet expansion in Karnataka faced changes from morning to evening swearing-in at Lok Bhavan. Initial list of 20 legislators was revised, dropping Mankal Vaidya and adding S.S. Mallikarjun after threats by Mallikarjun. A.V. Gayatri Shanthegouda did not take oath due to legal issues, while speculation over another list caused delays. Eventually, 19 out of 20 names took oath; opposition to her induction came from caste and regional concerns. The Cabinet now includes nine first-time Ministers with balanced caste representation but no Brahmins for the first time.
