
Congress Suspends Bharti as Singh Accuses Collusion with BJP Leader
On July 30, a by-election was held in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia Assembly seat after Rajendra Bharti was disqualified due to conviction in a bank fraud case. A day before results, the Congress suspended Mr. Bharti from primary membership following allegations of sabotage against candidate Ghanshyam Singh, who accused him of colluding with BJP leader Narottam Mishra. Voting turnout was 71.44%. The bypoll results will be counted on August 3.
