On Sunday, August 2, 2026, the flood situation in Assam improved slightly with around 1.35 lakh people affected across five districts—Charaideo, Dhemaji, Golaghat, Jorhat, and Sivasagar—but three more deaths were reported from Sivasagar, bringing this year's toll to 85. ASDMA noted over 1,36,200 people affected, with 55,000 in Sivasagar district alone. Floods inundated 335 villages and damaged 15,422 hectares of farmland; the Dhansiri river exceeded danger levels at Numaligarh.
