DMDK Protests in Hogenakkal Demand Karnataka Release 3500 Cusecs Water to Tamil Nadu
On Saturday, Premallatha Vijayakant, DMDK general secretary, led protests in Hogenakkal against Karnataka's proposed dam and urged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to visit Karnataka for talks and pass a resolution endorsing the Cauvery Water Management Authority’s directive to release 3,500 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu. She also called on him to meet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to request Karnataka’s cooperation. Despite opposition objections, she argued that visits for personal reasons justify official visits for resolving issues like power and water shortages in Tamil Nadu. The DMK participated in the protests.
