Young man dies trying to save pet dog from Assam floods
On July 19, in Sivasagar district of Assam, Hridip died while trying to save his three-month-old pet dog, Varun, from floodwaters. Hridip's father and uncle attempted a rescue but failed as the water level rose sharply. While Hridip perished, Varun survived and remains with the family. His mother urged better government rescue arrangements in flood-prone areas.
