The Ministry of Electronics and IT has summoned Meta's global leadership, including chief global affairs officer Joel Kaplan, for a meeting next week to address concerns over posts affecting public order and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) that violate Meta’s community standards. The ministry warned Meta could lose safe harbour protections under India’s Information Technology Act if it fails to act against such content. This follows recent incidents like the temporary withholding of a video featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and allegations of censorship during student protests.
