On July 27, the Allahabad High Court imposed a fine on the Bhadohi superintendent of police and Suriyawan station house officer for investigating a marriage between two consenting adults. The court quashed an FIR lodged by the woman’s father against the man for alleged abduction and fined him Rs 5,000.
