Gadkari Seeks Suit Against Meta, X, Google Over Defamatory Content

Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, was granted permission by the Bombay High Court to file a civil suit against Meta-owned Facebook and Instagram, X, Google, and unidentified entities for spreading defamatory content linking him and his family to profits from the E20 ethanol initiative. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) are also respondents in the case. Gadkari contends that these allegations are false and malicious, aimed at tarnishing his image. He seeks removal of AI-generated deepfake videos and related posts from social media platforms. The court will consider interim relief at a later stage.
