Floods in Assam Affect 6.55 Lakh People, Death Toll Rises to 66
Large-scale harm to citizens is being reported as routine.
On Saturday, the flood situation in Assam showed marginal improvement with nearly 6.55 lakh people still affected across six districts and four new deaths reported, bringing this year's total to 66. Sivasagar district accounted for three of the latest fatalities and remains the hardest hit, affecting around 2.9 lakh people. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) operates 274 relief camps in six districts, aiding over 18,900 displaced individuals. Eight hundred villages are submerged, and over 34,970 hectares of crops have been damaged.
