Floods in Assam: Seven Lakh Affected, Seven Missing as Waters Recede
Floodwaters are receding in upper Assam, but 20-25% of Sivasagar and Charaideo remain cut off; seven people are still missing. Around seven lakh people have been affected, according to Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister. Rescue teams from the Indian Army, NDRF, and SDRF face challenges due to mud-covered roads. The government aims to restore road connectivity as soon as possible. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured assistance; a Central assessment team is scheduled to visit on July 25.
