Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Proposes First Cauvery Water Meeting in 14 Years
C. Joseph Vijay, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has proposed a meeting with D.K. Shivakumar, his Karnataka counterpart, to discuss the release of Cauvery water. Tamil Nadu claims it is entitled to an additional 3,000 million cubic feet (tmc ft.), while its current allocation stands at about 3.5 tmc ft., resulting in a shortfall of approximately 28 tmc ft. The proposed meeting between July 31 and August 3 would be the first in nearly 14 years if confirmed by Karnataka, which is expected within a day or two.
