DRDO’s ‘Kusha’ Missile Hits Target in First Test, Boosting Defence Independence
On July 24, 2026, the DRDO successfully conducted the first flight test of the ‘Kusha’ Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) at APJ Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha. The missile intercepted an electronic target simulating a high-speed aerial threat within its range of over 200 km. Developed to protect strategic assets from various aerial threats, Kusha aims to reduce India’s import dependency for such systems.
