Assam Floods Kill 47, Sivasagar Hit Worst with 3.75 Lakh Affected

The Assam flood toll rose to 47 with six more deaths reported on Thursday, affecting over 7.21 lakh people in 11 districts. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) stated that several major rivers exceeded danger levels due to heavy rains. Sivasagar was the hardest hit, with 3.75 lakh affected residents, followed by Charaideo and Jorhat. Four deaths occurred in Sivasagar and two in Charaideo. Over 24,000 people were sheltered in 103 relief camps, while 255 distribution centers operated. Crop damage covered 25,375.44 hectares.
