Bombay High Court slams 73-year-old Mhatre, rejects bail after hospital attack
Abuse of power by an elected official against healthcare workers is a serious concern.
The Bombay High Court refused to lift the stay on bail for Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre, who had attacked doctors and hospital staff after a hospital refused newborn admission. The court criticized Mhatre, questioning his behavior despite being 73 years old and involved in social work. Mhatre was arrested July 6 and granted bail July 14 before the high court canceled it last Sunday.
