On July 21, 2026, a Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation met Election Commission of India officials and submitted a memorandum against Jan Suraaj party leader Prashant Kishor, alleging violations in the Bankipur Assembly byelection. The BJP claimed Mr. Kishor exceeded the ₹40 lakh expenditure limit, used shell companies for funding, and manipulated social media to influence voters. Senior leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain demanded an impartial inquiry by the Enforcement Directorate into these allegations. BJP leaders also urged strict action against foreign-operated social media accounts influencing the election. Reacting, Jan Suraaj Party President Manoj Bharti dismissed the claims and challenged the BJP to disclose their own funding details. Polling is scheduled for July 30, with counting on August 3.
