Tunnel collapse in Sikkim kills at least 20, five trapped after methane blast

At least 20 workers died and five remain trapped after a tunnel collapsed in Sikkim's Namchi district following a suspected methane gas explosion at the NHPC Teesta Stage VI Hydropower Project on Monday. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ex-gratia payments for families of the deceased and injured. A special committee will investigate the cause of the blast.
