IIM Calcutta studies BJP’s West Bengal election strategy for global use
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta is developing a case study on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s organisational strategy during the recent West Bengal elections. Prof Alok Kumar Rai, Prof Ramya T Venkateswaran, and Prof Bodhibrata Nag are preparing it to teach strategic management principles. The team has interacted with Sunil Bansal, Samik Bhattacharya, and Sukanta Majumdar, aiming to also interview Amit Shah and Suvendu Adhikari for additional insights. Using frameworks like the Resource-Based View and VRIO, the study will examine organisational structures, leadership, and management principles during the campaign and post-election governance. It aims to determine if these strategies offer sustainable competitive advantages applicable in diverse contexts. The case study will be published by Ivy Publishing through IIM Calcutta’s Case Research Centre for use globally.
