
Four-time councillor V.K. Minimol elected as Kochi Mayor
V.K. Minimol, a four-time councillor and State Vice President of the Mahila Congress, was elected mayor of Kochi after defeating Jagathambika Sudarshan of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) by 48 votes to 22. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Priya Prashanth secured six votes. Ms. Minimol's victory came despite the absence of Congress councillor Deepthy Mary Varghese, who was considered a frontrunner but ultimately sidelined. She promised to prioritize infrastructure and welfare in her address to the council.
