Ramesh Mhatre, a Shiv Sena corporator who assaulted a woman doctor in Thane hospital on July 6, surrendered to police after the Bombay High Court cancelled his bail on Sunday. The court noted he was named in 18 criminal cases, including murder and attempt to murder. He was sent to judicial custody till August 3. The court also urged doctors to reconsider their planned strike for July 20.
