Mallela Venkata Ramana Murthy, a TDP leader, and eight relatives were arrested for attacking a woman in Guntur district after demanding a Rs 10,000 bribe which was refused. The attack occurred on July 15; they faced charges including assault and house trespass under BNS Sections 331 (6), 74, 79, 115 (2), and 118 (1). Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ordered stringent action and suspended the TDP functionary involved.
