
Karnataka bus accident: CM and PM announce ex-gratia
Siddaramaiah, the Karnataka Chief Minister, announced an ex-gratia compensation of ₹5 lakh to the families of each deceased after a container truck collided with a private bus in Chitradurga district, resulting in a fire. The accident claimed several lives and injured others. D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister, expressed condolences, while H.D. Kumaraswamy, the Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, urged the government to ensure proper treatment for the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased. The President, Droupadi Murmu, also expressed condolences and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
