IUML to get one-year term for Deputy Mayor’s post in Kochi Corporation
IUML will serve a one-year term as Deputy Mayor in the Kochi Corporation after an agreement between IUML national general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan, and UDF convenor Adoor Prakash. The decision follows IUML's displeasure over the Congress district leadership's unilateral announcement of two candidates for the post in a split-term arrangement. T.K. Asharaf, an IUML candidate with experience as an Independent councillor and former health standing committee chairperson, will serve as the party's Deputy Mayor.
