
Mudragada Padmanabham, 73, Veteran Kapu Leader, Dies in Hyderabad Hospital
Mudragada Padmanabham, veteran Kapu leader and politician, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at a Hyderabad hospital due to prolonged illness. He was 73 and led Andhra Pradesh’s longest social movement for Backward Class status for Kapus from 2016 until his resignation in 2020. Padmanabham had served various political parties including TDP, BJP, Congress, and YSRCP before joining Jana Sena Party ahead of the 2024 elections. He changed his name to Mudragada Padmanabham Reddy after Pawan Kalyan won from Pithapuram in March 2024. Survived by two sons and a daughter, he is mourned by Kapu leaders who visited his native village of Kirlampudi.
