Internal dissent within Congress over selection of Kochi mayor candidate intensifies

Deepthi Mary Varghese, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) general secretary, has criticized the selection process for Kochi Corporation's mayoral candidates, alleging discrepancies with the KPCC circular. She claims the opinion of Congress councillors was not solicited fairly and that a KPCC observer was absent during the process. Varghese also expressed her disappointment over the selection of the mayor, stating she was overlooked despite complying with party directives. She has informed KPCC president about the alleged violations and pledged support for the chosen candidates.
