On July 13, 2026, Greater Chennai Police handed over documents related to a ₹35-crore bribery case involving Uthangarai MLA N. Elaiyaraja, who accused Thirunavukkarasu of attempting to bribe him with ₹35 crore on behalf of V. Senthilbalaji and his brother, V. Ashok Kumar. The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) received these documents after requesting them from the police. Police arrested suspects including Thirunavukkarasu and seized ₹60 lakh in cash. The Madras High Court granted conditional bail to Senthilbalaji and Ashok Kumar on July 8, 2026.
